General strike set for October 5th

Romania’s public sector trade unions voted on Thursday to hold a one day strike on October 5th in protest at proposed cuts in jobs. Civil servants, health workers, teachers, university professors and even non-essential police staff will all take part in the one-day walk out, which threatens to cause chaos throughout the country.
