She’s at it again.
Yesterday, Romania’s incomparably lovely Minister of Tourism and Regional Development, Elena Udrea told assembled Romanian diplomats and ambassadors that the country ‘now had its first ever professionally produced tourism brand.’ (You know, the brand whose logo was bought off-the-shelf).
‘Romania has had promotional campaigns in the past,’ she said, ‘but these have never been scientifically-based, as now.’
Well; professional, scientific or not, we well remember the Simply Surprising campaign of a number of years go, which we thought rather good:
Yes, they did spell ‘mistery’ (sic) incorrectly, and they do claim that the Danube Delta is ‘a living paradise’ (not for the people who live there it isn’t), but the ad is well made: comprehensive without being too generalist, and there is nary a Hagi, a Nastase or a Comaneci in sight.
Even the logo was reasonably nice (and it wasn’t bought off the shelf).
Elena Udrea. Simply Surprising.

Is it “an unique” or “a unique”?
‘A unique’, obviously. For the same reason it is ‘a university.’
Ok … there goes another mistake.
Why don’t they run these statements by you before publishing them.
Craig offered to do that but they don’t want to listen to him

Exactly. Always got the same answer: we have people who speak English.
I always thought that if Udrea would hire a group of reportage photographers to photograph life as it really is today around Romania that would make for a great tourism campaign. Let’s really show all the great sports cars, beautiful women and beautiful architecture and rural life that Romania has.
Hiring good photographers is only half the battle. You must then have the rest of the production team who know how to use them.
Wow, I like the old spot! This was indeed a good idea.
I don’t know what someone should expect from a spot with Hagi, Comaneci or Ilie Nastase, maybe receive a free dinner with the 3 of them when they come to Romania…
A spot with Comaneci, Hagi and Nastase would be useful only if we hosted the Olympics…
Yes it was rather good. Was it your work @Geromimo?
Nah. I did this one:

It’s a bit of a jumble and I don’t think the scotland, russia etc nonsense makes much sense but I liked the “living history” line and it was well shot
Geronimo’s spot is good too and the Irish melody sounds very nice :X
Indeed. I too dislike the ‘This could be Wherever’ captions but take those out you have a decent ad.
Polish tourism logo looks familiar:

Nice job! really liked it. Can you do a longer one?
change the song this is boring us
Honestly, you would think people were dragged kicking and screaming over here to read these pages. You can always choose not to read what we write.
The idea that we should ‘change the song’ (the phrase is actually change the record, or tune – by the way) to suit you or anyone else defies belief.
