It’s not all that often that we get particularly excited about anything anymore. On Sunday, however, at Parc Aventura in Brasov, we certainly did, and not without reason: this place is currently about the best fun you can have in Romania (well, within reason, of course).
An adventure park set over two and a half hectares of land on the outskirts of Brasov, Parc Aventura features eight routes through the trees (and up into them) incorporating all sorts of treetop madness, from rope bridges to ziplines, all at various heights: the trickier the course the higher it gets.
Graded much like ski-slopes (red and black being for experts only) we stuck to the yellow and green trails, which were enough for beginners like ourselves. Indeed, having been unable to balance properly on the first obstacle of the first yellow route we wanted to give up more or less straight away. It was only our seven year old – who had gone first, brave lad – who insisted we continue.
In the end we completed one yellow and one green route. Hardly Indiana Jones material, but we will be back: maybe having plucked up enough courage to try the red one.
Two hours at Parc Aventura costs 35 lei for adults, 25 lei for kids over eight (we said our son was eight: saves on arguments, see here). Compared to the similarly named park just outside Bucharest, we recommend going the extra mile (or 120) and heading for the Brasov version: it is in a league of its own.
