We are featuring the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Bucharest metro in the latest issue of Bucharest In Your Pocket (out tomorrow), and as such wanted a cover that would honour this momentous occasion. Step in regular poster on this blog, Davin Ellicson, who, already basking in the glory of having a cracking photo on the cover of Brasov In Your Pocket, said he would come up with something suitable.
Hence the girl with the not entirely unattractive backside (and a Bucharest metro train, almost coincidentally appearing in the background).
We threw it around the office for a while, made a few mock-ups, but at the end of the day we went with one of Davin’s other shots (for which you will have to wait until tomorrow to see. Needless to say it is not as immediately fetching…).
Why? Well, as the issue covers October and November, this under-dressed young lady might have looked a bit out of place on our cover come November, when there could well be snow on the ground. And, of course, it could of made a few of our older readers a bit hot under the collar.
So we binned the idea, alas. But the photo is far too good to waste, so we have stuck her on page three.

Hello from Russia!
Can I quote a post in your blog with the link to you?
@Polprav: Yes
Very representative indeed
)
@Fraser I would not say we ‘bottled it’ as such. Simply that it wasn’t suitable for two very good reasons we outline. @sophie is right: not everyone might feel comfortable with a half’naked chick on the cover of their guide.
Be honest, you bottled it. nice bombardier though
And make sure girls like her are there when you decide to try it out.
They should start using that photo in adverts. The metro that is. I’m sure they would get lots more people using it. ‘Travel by TottyTube’
I told you old American couples will be embarrassed to walk around the city carrying an almost naked young woman under their arms…
Sometimes I genuinely miss bucharest
