Dogs: Why only a zero tolerance policy is now acceptable

Took the kids to Titan yesterday, to the big park.

It’s nice, very nice. A park that would be considered a nice place in any city in the world. Terraces have been built into the banks that lead down towards the artificial lake, and fine wooden benches, flower beds and lawns added. The large and very well equipped children’s playgrounds are built on tartan, not sand, so the kids can play all they like without worrying about getting sand in their shoes (and then, subsequently, in Dad’s car).

All’s well then?

No.

At the end of a lovely day, our six year old went off exploring down a path only to return seconds later screaming, and with a fierce, rabid and vicious stray dog chasing him. He was visibly shook-up, and remained upset for the rest of the day.

What do you tell a child in these situations?

What we tell them is simple: there are some evil people in the world. Sick, evil people who feed these beasts; protect them and nurture them. People who should be in prison. Why? Because feeding stray dogs – who in turn terrify children – is basically child abuse.

It is time for zero tolerance on this issue. And if there is no political will to do something about the dog problem, let’s do something about the sick bastards who feed them.

@anti-dogs: stuff like that is hard to find, even caustic soda is hard to find because nobody advertises it and you don't really know in what type of store it may sell…
Personally I had some from the times of Ceausescu, when my grandmother would keep a cuffin in the basement of the block where we live (I live at the 2nd floor, she lives at the 4th floor) and in that cuffin she would maintain a small reserve of various chemicals which we needed around the house: from lighting gas to plaster and caustic soda. So I went to that cuffin and found the caustic soda… :D

I was bitten by a dog here in Romania and when I went to the hospital to get my first of a series of rabies shots they gave me half the required dose (because of shortages I guess) which is useless in protecting one from rabies. I went to London for immediate treatment and the clinic nurse there was shocked to learn what the Romania doctor had given me. If the dog had been rabid I would have ended up dying at the hands of the Romanian doctor since the first vacination needs to be given within a day or two.

since caustic soda doesn't seem to work, anyone who knows a substance that disguised inside some metaballs would do the job properly is kindly asked to post some tips here, including where to get the substance from legally. Wafarin I heard would be great, where do I find this?

Yes sir, dogs have to be taken off the streets!
But I don't understand how that dog came after the child, usually dogs don't chase children… maybe it was a crazy dog ["caine turbat" in Romanian].
I had problems with 2 dogs residing near Sheriff's Fast Food (Unirii) who seem to belong to a homeless person and seem to protect him even if nobody does anything to him. However, they are very mean and they will jump directly on citizens passing by, with no warning. It happened to me twice in about one year and in one night I decided to place some meatballs with caustic soda inside them, thinking that maybe I'll get rid of the fu****g dogs but I didn't have any luck, two weeks later I saw them on the other end of Lipscani.
I'm gonna try again when I find some more caustic soda…

totally in agreement with you. As long as there are stray dogs in town we are third world. Send your story to mayor Oprescu's mail which you find at http://www.pmb.ro, send your request to the Parliament so they change the law that doesn't allow euthanising dogs. That's what I'd do, if we are many that express our discontent maybe they will listen. I sent an email to all these and even got answer, they even sent the dog catchers. But more needs to be done
