That headline got your attention, didn’t it? It certainly caught ours. So much so that we thought it had to be a joke.

Then we read the actual article, and realised it was…

For those who can’t make out the Romanian, here’s the ‘news’:

An hourly train service will begin running in a week or two from Gara de Nord to the village of Corbeanca, north of Bucharest. From there, a bus service will carry people to and from Otopeni airport. Total travel time? About the same as the current bus service from Gara de Nord to Otopeni.

We’re not sure if the idea was Minister of Tourism Elena Udrea‘s, but here’s a photo of her anyway:

As for those of you who are still with us, here’s a link to a post of ours from last year, suggesting something similar, only far better.

Bows, bows, thy Highness. I thought of taking a shot at the black SUV, but, blast it, there was another car parked there. I think that I shall have a 100 pic collection before I even know it… have a look at these monkeys. Enjoy!

Amazing photo, please do post the other one. I am currently sans camera which is a shame as I have seen some pretty badly parked cars lately, though, it must be said, nothing in this league.

I was referring to this idiot. Might be Udrea too, even though I very much doubt she lives in that neighbourhood, respectively in that block.

Who’s got two cars? Elena Udrea?

Talking of the fabulo Romanian spirit, I thought you might like something. This
shithead
has two cars: this one and a (black, of course, egg white is no longer trendy) SUV. Every morning, one of
the two is parked in the same spot, the same style. It is on my way, so I cannot ignore it. The SUV pic coming soon.

Well, with a bit of ordnung, the transfer Gara de Nord – OTP Airport could be done in 40 minutes or so (as they say the train to Corbeanca would take 25 minutes, it would take them 5 minutes to let people get on the bus and then, unlike their 5 minutes to the airport I would give them 10 because this is Romania). If it was so, I would give them a thumb up, because – except for 2 AM and Sunday morning, the car / bus transfer would take at least the same time, if not longer. But I for one smell there will be no ordnung. The bus will not be there when the train arrives, the station will not have any endowments for people with luggage (as many people flying out are), the transfer train – to – bus will take longer than expected and a pink sort of chaos will occur.

In Romania even the subway train is late (even though there is no traffic jam, no horse-pulled cart and no idiot blocking a crossing to give it a reason to be late). If they create a route where one has to get on a train and then shift on a bus, and call all that “efficient”, they must be out of this place.

As for her, as previously said, red is the colour we want to see her in. But I have to say the shot is nice. Even more, it is fabulo. Fabulospirit.
