Just read some of the comments, think they are a bit unfair, Bucharest ok it maynot be the most pretty City in the world, perhaps at one time it might have , but i find its people very friendly , and i love its large green areas of Parklands which it people love and use, and if you take time to explore you will find lots of beautiful buldings so for me its not all negitive , i agree its politics need to think more of its people than their own greed and that holds the country back, in fact the young people have almost given up in seeing their country progress, but still many will remain and hope that one day things will improve ,talking of bribes , bribes can only live off those who give bribes ,and that includes goverments at least in Romania its more open unlike many countries.

Do Swedish people know that Romania even exists?
Because Romanian people don’t know shit about Sweden, if you ask on the street you’ll find out that Volvo is made in Germany.
I don’t care very much about what the Swedish think about this country as long as they don’t contribute 1$ for its development.
And with the U.K. I think we’re starting to know each other better and both countries adapt so they cooperate. See for example the huge bribes paid by BAE Systems to get contracts of hundreds of millions of Euro over here, the RBS which is the only real bank present in Romania and I’m sure there are other examples.
The British are not stupid people, if the French and the Austrians could could bribe their way to monopolies over here why wouldn’t the British try to get their share?! Only the Dutch and the Scandinavian were stupid and whatever they say now is because they weren’t smecheri enough to get their share.
I would describe the relationship between the U.K. and Romania as a consociate ignorance, “stay put, there’s more to come between us”.

Ok. Wow! All I can say is that Ceausescu absolutely destroyed “Little Paris”! I mean today Bucharest is a joke of an EU capital! I have no idea what the 4th grader was thinking! I will say it again, but I have an MA and could lead Romania successfully! I am not sure what Basescu’s credentials are besides being a former Securitate agent (which my friend (grand daughter of one has just confirmed)) Let it be known that as long as Romania is led by former Communists, the country will continue to be lame. I mean Romanians should know that the country has the WORST reputation in Europe. Talk about Romania in the UK or Sweden and see what reaction you get!!!

From what I know, the anti-terrorist brigade of the SRI has black Mercedes vans. Also the special inteventions unit of the Jandamerie has blue Mercedes vans. The regular Police has Volkswagen vans and the local Police (formerly Politia Comunitara) has mostly Renault vans.
Not sure which one you ran into but if the washing machines were American made it means you could have photographed around the residence of an U.S. official or some premises of the U.S. diplomatic mission…
The vans could also have been of the SPP, especially if those people wore dark colour suits. All the other services which I wrote earlier wear specific uniforms…
