There was more tragic news for Romania’s news agencies and television news stations today when a girl in Arad who sneezed several times in succession was found by doctors not to have swine flu.
“We’ve been hoping for a local outbreak of swine flu all week,” said Adelin Petrisor, top reporter at Realitatea TV. “We have the helicopter on standby, ready to ship essential news staff hundreds of kilometres for little reason at all. Still, we are no giving up. We hope to have another suspected case of this flu to report on soon.”
Meantime, news stations are instead reporting on the annual May 1st grotty student pilgrimage to the seaside, where, according to latest bulletins, distractie este la ea acasa.

2 of my cousins in mexico got infected with the swine flu virus. thank God, they recovered well. it is a great news that the pandemic on swine flu is gone now.
i think that in asian countries the Swine Flu did not spread rapidly compared to those countries that are located in colder climates. we should still be very thankful that the swine flu did not cause massive infections.
My brother got infected with H1N1 or Swine Flu in Mexico. He got a mild fever and luckily he did not die.
the spread of AH1N1 or Swine Flu is really scary. It is a good thing that this virus is not very deadly. We are advised to take Vitamin-C and to wear face masks.
Im so scared about this epidemic swine flu. It gets serious in some parts of the world. Even our country gets too careful when it comes to it already.
Nothing wrong with the first of may. go down there, get pissed, get beaten up, come back with the bruises. a rite of passage.
I don’t understand why “tinerii” go to the seaside each year, like sheep, for the 1st of May.
Frankly, I don’t understand the seaside habit at all. If it was about “the sun and the seawater making us more healthy” then everyone would walk around half naked in the summer and a few entrepreneurs would sell seawater in the winter.
So what else do “tinerii” get at the seaside? The possibility to get naked without it being considered an offense. Like -> we may not stay in our underwear in Bucharest because it’s not polite but it’s ok if we stay in our underwear at the seaside =))
Maybe I’m the rude type but I would prefer to tell a woman “I wanna see you naked, how much do you want for that?” than “Let’s go to the seaside and book rooms in a hotel”.
All these situations like beach, sunbathing, lotions, swimwear etc… are a terrible loss of time and a headache, why can’t people just be direct and tell each other that they want to go to his/her place for a fu**?!
You’re killing me with these rabid news posts. Kikiki.
And yes, the Black Sea coast is in dire need of a lesson about price versus value. There’s going to be some very sober and critical guidebook research along the length of the coast this summer, I assure you.
I enjoy contemplating year after year, practically since time immemorial, the empty hopes of the seaside tour operators and Ministry of Tourism to con foreign tourists to come to the outrageously expensive and miserable hotels and beaches and force down their throats the revolting concoctions called “mancare traditionala romaneasca”.
