And then there were none

The last print edition of Business Review

English-language weeklies, that is.

At one stage, you couldn’t move in a Bucharest expat pub for decent weekly newspapers.

Well, for a long time at least there were two (Sean Hillen’s Bucharest Business Week, and Bill Avery’s Business Review, and, if memory serves, for a while, when the excellent but short lived New Bucharest Express appeared, there were three). Now, as we wake up to the news that the Business Review (along with Romanian-language stable mates Biz and Business Week) has to all intents and purposes gone (officially it is moving online for a while, but expect a while to be a long time), that leaves us nothing left to read each weekend in the pub. (Bucharest Business Week disappeared – in its English format at least -a while ago).

As just one of many, many expats who passed through the doors of Business Review on more than one occasion, I’m personally sorry to see Business Review go. Michael Barclay’s restaurant column will be sorely missed: and it is to be hoped that he will continue to write in the online version.

Gordon, I have a Gazzetta dello Sport bought for 10 Francs when I lived in Paris and brought home as a memory, it was from the day when Marcelo Salas signed with Lazio, I can lend it to you if you want but it’s in Italian :D
