Just when we had begun to think Adevarul was living up to (its own) hype as the only decent newspaper in Romania (or at least trying to be), it publishes this news story: Cronica Carcotasilor is a rip-off of the Italian show Striscia la notizie.
Like anybody who has seen both shows didn’t know that. Indeed, if our memory serves us well, when Cronica first began its producers admitted as such. Now, ten years on, Adevarul would have us believe that its unearthed some great, dark secret.
No, it hasn’t. What would be a story is for the press to admit that Cronica - though it still has its moments – is not as half as good as it used to be.
Then again, what is these days?
