It’s getting boring…

in Bucharest

…but alas it’s true. Bucharest’s firemen (famous until now for possessing the slowest fire engines in Europe – have you ever seen the ‘speed’ they go?) were yesterday called out to rescue a stray dog, fallen into a canal.

Yes, really.

The words ‘resources, waste, what about people: where do they fit in?’ immediately spring to mind.

Obviously someone had to save the dog from a slow and painful death in the sewer and (since the blog owner didn’t volunteer) then the firemen had to do it. What the blog owner meant was: if there weren’t any stray dogs in Bucharest in the first place then the firemen would have busied themselves saving human lives elsewhere instead

You know what I like about Gordon? That he always knows how to change the subject when I start to say stupid things :D
But I don’t agree with him this time; rather than having animal police like in the US it’s better to give legal rights to firemen so they can save animals in distress. Somebody had to save that dog, they couldn’t let him die…

Much ado about nothin’, Gordon. They saved a life, as pathetic as it might sound to you. I fully agree, they can do much more than saving a dog, and should do that. And yes again, they are often slow, 112 sometimes does not work etc. But this does not mean what they did was a bad thing. As always, enjoy your wurst. We know you want euthanasia for all stray dogs.
