Better count on at least EUR 30 / person for lunch and do not forget adding (at least) a coffee break (so at least EUR 7-8 / person). As, without (plentiful) food and (as much as possible) pastry / cakes and coffee, you will have no audience in this country, disregarding of your being Kotler or Johns. Not to mention the media; those people expect pork steaks even for the coffee break, otherwise they are gone after the first few minutes. Good luck

Hey, I had my own idea of making money from nothing. Maybe I’ll try it somewhere in the spring but I was thinking: 100 Euro for the ticket, 30 people attending the event (I may be a good trader but I’m not George Soros) but on the other hand comes about 400 Euro for renting a conference room, probably another 600 Euro at least for lunch, 1000 Euro to the promoter and all I have left is 1000 Euro. It’s not worth the trouble, speaking in front of crowds is not my specialty. Although I would have something to say about trading the markets for a living and the subject would be of some interest. I’m gonna check with some promoters to see what chances we have to bring at least 100 people because otherwise it’s not worth it.

About the VAT thing, there can be more than that. Think you sign contracts with various hotels in town. A contract has a price list attached. Say 100 EUR / DBL BB during the low season. And then, right under the price list, hit this:
“Prices are per night per room, they include breakfast. Prices are inclusive of 8% commission (8% of the room, after deducing the breakfast price), they are exclusive of VAT and city tax”. Now, given my mentioning that VAT is 9% for accommodation and the city tax is 3%, could you kindly tell me how much I am paying for the room in the end of the day? I dare say no. Because you have an unknown figure there (besides the exchange rate into RON) and it is not listed anywhere.
