This arrived in our inbox this morning, it was titled ‘Misleading Article’:
My name is Adrian Boloveschi and I live in Romania. This is where I
have lived for my entire life. I am 25 and currently working and
living in Cluj Napoca. I read an article on your website about
“Driving in Romania”, I have included the link below.
I would like to tell you that this article includes a lot of lies and
a lot of false things about Romania. For instance the last part that
the driving license is bought. Well, that has happened in ONE city in
the south of the country and it was on the news for a few days, and
that’s it. Generalizing it to the entire country is wrong and makes
people that read that article have a false impression on it. Another
aspect is about driving. The person who wrote the article obviously
drove in Bucharest only. I agree that driving there might be like
going through a jungle sometimes, but that applies ONLY for Bucharest,
the capital, not for the entire country. It is a very crowded city and
road rage is a phenomena that is happening in other major/busy cities
in the world. However, generalizing this also to the entire country is
wrong and misleading.
“Many Romanians drink and drive as a matter of course.” This statement
is also far from reality. I bet that there are more people that drink
and drive in USA that here by far. I have been there and saw it with
my own eyes.
These are just a few examples, but the entire article is exaggerated
and is based on isolated facts that are generalized. It has no author
so I don’t know to whom to address this claim, but please take this
into consideration and either delete the article or change it to
reflect reality.
I am open to any discussion about this if you think it is necessary.
Thank you for your time,
Adrian

“Romanians by and large drive like selfish cretins, and if the behaviour of the vast majority of the country’s males when they get behind the wheel is anything to go by, then the average Romanian penis must be tiny.”
- Actually it’s the second largest in Europe after the French penis
“In Romania, a good rule of thumb is that the bigger and more expensive the car, the fewer rules of the road the driver has to obey.”
- Of course! I drive a Mercedes and I paid 100.000 E for it so that people give me priority. When you have an expensive car it means that your time is also far more expensive than other peoples’ time and you should be allowed to pass for the well being of the entire society. After all you pay higher taxes than most of the other people!
