Election Time: Free Balloons All Round

in Romania,Romanian Politics

On Saturday we went to the last Targul Taranului of the year in Piata Amzei. (As of next month the fun moves up the road to the Muzeul Taranului).

We had been enticed along by the prospect of picking up some pastrav afumat (smoked mackerel)… alas we left empty handed on the fish front. These ‘peasants’ were charging 15 lei a piece for the said delicacy, an absolute rip-off. We did buy some sausages, which were excellent and cheap, but the Targul Taranului by and large left us unimpressed. You are basically buying the same old stuff as you buy in your local supermarket, only at prices which are unacceptable.

From the Targ we headed down to Tineretului Park. And what did we find? An impromptu political rally for the PNL in progress. Yellow flags and balloons everywhere.

If there’s one thing that’s welcome about an election campaign in Romania, it’s the balloons. Our kids love balloons: and from now until polling day they can look forward to an endless, free supply.

I do wonder though, why the marketing people at the main political parties can’t come up with something just a bit different?

The marketing people of the main political parties are either very stupid or know very little about marketing. Actually the marketing people of most Romanian companies together with the HR people of most Romanian companies are very stupid or know very little about their domain. Maybe I’m not 100% sure about the marketing people but I’m damn sure about the HR people! 3 years ago when I wanted to get a job nobody would hire me so I had to gather all the money that I could gather (2000 USD) and enter the markets to prove everyone how stupid they were for not hiring me and today I really enjoy my revenge!! Yes sir, when I wake up at 13:00 in the afternoon and drive my blue CL in front of the HQ of the companies that rejected me, I feel that I’m alive! Interamerican, ABN AMRO (now RBS – my vendetta with them is over), Price Waterhouse Coopers, I really enjoy to see them working 12h a day for nothing! I really enjoy to see them concerned about their credit payments when I made 100.000 RON in two days! Revenge is the strongest feeling in the world. Stupid people deserve stupid lifes.
