Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu today took time off from the circus that is the Romanian political scene to open a whopping 37 whole kilometres of newly built motorway.
Part of the so-called Autostrada Soarelui, the motorway from Bucharest to Constanta (a total distance of 225 kilometeres) was begun in 1998, and now stretches 160 kilometres (as far as the wonderful town of Cernavoda). Without a hint of comedy in his voice, the prime minister today said that ‘the motorway will be fully open by 2010.’
Added to the 100 kilometers of motorway that link Bucharest to Pitesti, Romania can now boast more than 250 kilometres of motorway. What a great country.
You can read more about The Sun’s Motorway – yes, that is how it has been translated – at this fantastic Wikipedia entry, clearly written by a proud Scu in some superb comedy English.

Felix… and others…. you’re being your own worst enemy. Defending problems that are clearly obvious is foolish. Just accept the dog issue and the bad roads issue and use all of that pent up anxiety to solve problems. Gordon and all “stir the pot” (they admit it) and you’re falling for it everytime. Gordon is right… I read just to see how reactionary you guys will be.
Great comment Felix, perfect. Keep them coming! Please! They are what people come to this blog to read, not my nonsense.
PS I am from Outer Mongolia.
